Introduction to Birth Assistant Training Course
2 Day Intensive Training
November 20-21, 2021
A birth assistant is a vital position at all out-of-hospital births. Midwives' rely on a competent assistant to be their second set of hands. Join us for a 2-day intensive course covering all topics listed below! By the end of the course, you will feel confident in the basics of birth assisting.
This course is great for those wanting a more clinical role in birth or for the student midwife prior to beginning the assist phase of training. For those wanting to continue on as birth assistants, apprenticeships available at True North Birth Center for those that meet certain requirements.
-Ethics and Professionalism
-The Birth Assistant Role
-Set-up (Birth Room, Suturing and IV)
-Skills (Blood pressure, pulse, temperature, fetal heart tones, respirations, neonatal heart rate, drawing up medications)
-Introduction to Charting
-Introduction to Birth Emergencies

In order to attend this course, please complete the registration below. A $200 non-refundable deposit is due in order to reserve your space. The balance is due by the first day of class. Pay in full with submission of the registration form to receive $50 off your total. Once you have completed the registration form, please call the office at (360) 779-0004 to make your payment over the phone, or bring check or cash in to True North Birth Center.
It is not required, but is recommended that you have taken a doula training course and are CPR and NRP certified.
Class size is limited to 6, so register ASAP!
All students receive a spiral bound course workbook.
